Leprousy is described as white skin, yellow hair and low follicle count, throughout the first books of the Bible. Leprousy is desribed as a disease, a sin and a curse, with the end result being defiled melanin.

Leprosy is the Mark of Cain and Curse laid on Esau and the majority of his descendants (Edomites). Esau (Ishaw עשו‎) means “wasted away is he”, referencing the lack of melanin such that the blood could be seen in his skin.
